0 VAL DHAL / DRY MOCHAI SPLIT CURRY

Val dhal - 1 cup
Onion - 1 big chopped fine
Tomato - 2 chopped fine
Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Dhaniya powder - 1 tbsp
Jeera powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
Coconut grated - 1/2 cup

Seasoning :-
Mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves

Cook the dhal seperately in enough water until they are soft but firm.
Grind coconut to a smooth paste.

Heat oil in a kadai and add onions ...fry till they are light brown...next add tomatoes and fry to mash well till they are thick and pulpy... now add all the powders( can sustitute with you home made curry powder)...saute for sometime....next add coconut paste and salt...cook for 10 minutes under low flame....finally add the cooked dhal and allow it cook together for another 5 or 10 minutes.
In a different small kadai heat a tbsp of oil and add mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves....when they splutter up add it to the curry...enjoy with rice or chapathi.
